April Recap!

Hey, guys, it’s Dana, and today I’m here with you for my April recap! These are a type of post I’m going to be doing every month where I recap what I read, what I bought, what I watched, and what I did. I love watching these kinds of videos on YouTube, and I decided it was time for me to get started on mine 🙂 So, without further ado, let’s get started!

April was a pretty good month in the sense that I had a lot of favorites! I watched some really good TV, traveled to a beautiful country for spring break, and listened to some great new songs. But my first favorite goes to my all time favorite, my biggest celebrity crush since I was 11…..

Harry Styles

slack-imgsApril has literally been HARRY’S MONTH. And when it’s Harry’s month, it’s his fans’ month. Within the span of four weeks, we have gotten two new songs (I love them both, but my favorite is Ever Since New York); an album announcement, release date, and tracklist; performances and interviews on the Graham Norton Show, SNL, in France, and an upcoming one on James Corden; and, most exciting (and nervewracking) of all, a WORLD TOUR!!! Harry announced his world tour yesterday, and needless to say, I freaked out. So did my bank account and my anxiety levels. He’s not coming to the US when I’m going to be there, which is super depressing, but I might be going to Paris or Germany in the fall, and if dates coincide and all goes well, my dad will be taking me to see Harry!! I’m so freaking excited. If any of you guys are planning on getting tickets–well, first of all, congratulations! Second of all, let me know, because I’d love to hear where you guys are going!

13 Reasons Why & The Handmaid’s Tale

mv5bytfmnzrlnwytmmfmni00ztfilwjhodgtogm5odq5ntgxzwuwl2ltywdlxkeyxkfqcgdeqxvymtexndq2mti-_v1_ux182_cr00182268_al_In the midst of watching The Office for the first time this April, I decided to start 2 new TV shows, the first of which had some of the biggest hype I had ever seen surrounding it. That show, as I’m sure most of you know, is 13 Reasons Why (Netflix). I’ve either seen people absolutely loving this show, or absolutely hating it. This book was one of my favorites back in middle school, so I was really excited to see it brought to my screen, and I was not disappointed. I absolutely LOVED 13 Reasons Why. I know that there is some controversy, but I personally found that the suicide was not glorified at all, in fact, I found it to be the opposite. Additionally, they did put a trigger warning at the start of the first episode, and in the beginning of particularly graphic episodes, so they did warn their audience. I feel like this is the kind of show that needs to be made and needs to have this kind of popularity, but at the same time, I do understand why a lot of people didn’t enjoy it.

Another show I’ve really enjoyed this month is one that only came out a couple of days ago, and that is The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu). I’ve never read the book, but after watching the first 3 episodes, I really, really need to. This is probably one of the only shows where I have yet to see any criticism for it, because it is so amazing and well done. Most of all, it is downright creepy, because what happens in the book could literally happen at any time. Elizabeth Moss is AMAZING as Offred, and I’m so, so excited for the rest of the season to unfold.

Bullet Journaling

I started bullet journaling again this month, and I’ve had SO much fun with it. It’s such a stress reliever, and it helps me stay organized. I’ve watched countless videos on YouTube, but my favorite channel by far is myriadinklings, so you should definitely check her out!! I also started a reading bullet journal, since I was inspired by Super Space Chick on YouTube. Also, a little note, the journal in the photo is not mine, I just found it on Google 🙂

Farewell, April

April has been a pretty busy month. (Which is why I’m surprised I managed to read so many books!) Not as busy as March or January, but still pretty busy. The first week was amazing, though, because I still had spring break, and I traveled to Mauritius with my family, which was BEAUTIFUL. We ziplined, parasailed, went quad biking, swam with dolphins, snorkeled, swam in the ocean, went tubing….it was just an amazing, highly well needed vacation, and I am so grateful for it. Thank you to my amazing parents for taking me and my sisters to Mauritius!!

Some other fun stuff that happened this month was I got to see my cousin, also known as my best friend in the entire world, for the first time since winter break, and it was lots of fun. We did makeup, watched Beauty and the Beast, and just had a great time together. It was also my best friend’s birthday on Thursday, so we went to the Cheesecake Factory for a birthday lunch and stuffed ourselves. April was also really exciting, because…..I BOUGHT HAMILTON TICKETS!!! I’m so excited, I’ve been obsessed with this musical for so long now, and it’s going to be amazing. My family and I are going to the Chicago show on July 7, and we can’t wait.

There are only 46 days left of school, and I can’t wait. This year has gone on for way too long, and I’m so ready for summer. That being said, I’m working my ass off to get all my work done on time and get my grades up. I’m really proud of how I’ve really stepped up my game this year, and my work ethic has seen a major change. I tried lots of different things this year, and I got involved in a lot. I ran for publicist for the club I’m in at school, and I didn’t win, but I didn’t let that stop me, and I ran for treasurer too. We find out soon, and I really hope that I win! All in all, April was a great month, and I’m looking forward to May…..aka my last official month of school!

Read This Month

I had a really surprising reading month in April. Surprising, because it ended up being really good, but it started off horribly. By April 14, I had only read 2 books, which is not good for me. I really stepped up, and made the decision to make reading a daily habit, not just something I said I was going to do and never really did. I ended up reading 12 books this month, which is the most I’ve read since July when I read the same anount, and I’m really proud of myself. Most of these books were 5 star reads, and I do have a review up for one of them, which I will link. Most exciting of all, I’m finally caught up on my Goodreads reading challenge, so yay for that!!

May Foresights

May is a pretty big month, schoolwise, since it’s my last month of school and there are a lot of summatives. I want to work the hardest I have yet, so I can do well on my exams, and get my grades and my GPA up. May is also a big month, because I’ve finally settled on my novel idea, and so I want to find the time to write at least a little bit everyday, so I can try and finish it this summer. I’m not traveling in May, but I do pick an INSPIRE trip, which is basically an overseas trip my school takes us on, so I really hope I get a good one with my best friends.

Monthly TBR

  1. A COURT OF MIST AND FURY by Sarah J. Maas
  3. P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU by Jenny Han
  4. THE SCORPIO RACES by Maggie Stiefvater
  5. CLOCKWORK PRINCE by Cassandra Clare
  6. CLOCKWORK PRINCESS by Cassandra Clare
  7. THE FEMALE OF THE SPECIES by Mindy McGinnis

I usually don’t follow my TBRs, but I just like having a list of books set out that I can turn to. I really want to finish the Infernal Devices this month, so then I can finally go ahead and finish the Mortal Instruments, and then start Lady Midnight! Notice how ACOWAR and Always and Forever, Lara Jean aren’t on my TBR? Well, I live overseas and I don’t know when the book will arrive in my local bookstore in hardcover, or when my local library will get it. Hopefully soon!!

Goals for the Month

  • Try and write everyday
  • Read everyday
  • Exercise more
  • Keep blogging
  • Keep bullet journaling
  • Be happy :))

How was your month? Let me know in the comments below! I’ll see you guys next time 🙂
