Get to Know YA Book Tag!

Hey, everyone, it’s Dana! Today I’m coming to you with the Get to Know YA Book Tag, which is also my first book tag. I’m super excited, because book tags are my favorite things to watch on YouTube, aside from bookshelf tours (which I really want to do!! Would any of you like to see that?) This tag was created by Phoebe over on YouTube, so go ahead and check her channel out! Now, without further ado, let’s get started ūüôā

1. What’s your favorite book?

Literally, how does one answer this question? I have too many. My favorite books of all time are the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, but since that’s kind of a generic answer, my other favorites include An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, Gemina¬†by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan, the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi, the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I know–a lot. But how can I just pick one?

2. What was your favorite book five years ago?

Five years ago, I was in fifth grade (did I really just have to count on my fingers for that), and my favorite book was still Harry Potter, since I had just reread the series back then and I was deep in my love for it. But for a book I haven’t mentioned, I really loved Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery a lot back then. I still do!

3. Favorite duology/trilogy/series?

Since I can’t just choose one, I’m going to do one for each! My favorite duology is the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, my favorite trilogy is the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi, and my favorite series is Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.

4. What was the last book you read?

The last book I read was A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I’m rereading it in anticipation for ACOWAR on May 2nd (!!!!), and I love it just as much as I remember, if not more. Also, it’s really fun to reread books like that after having read the sequel, because you pick up on so many details you hadn’t before!

5. What was the last book of poetry you read?

Yesterday I picked up the princess saves herself in this one by Amanda Lovelace, which I LOVED. I’ve recently gotten really into poetry, and this book was on my TBR for a while, so when I saw it at the mall, I knew I had to pick it up. I’m so glad I did, because it was AMAZING. I highly recommend it! Definitely one of my favorites of the year.

6. What book most influenced your life?

I’ve read many powerful books in my life, but I have to say that the books that most influenced my life are the Harry Potter series. These books changed my life way back in the second grade, and they made me love reading. I don’t know who I would be without reading these books, and I am so, so grateful to J.K. Rowling for the magic she has created within the series.

7. Book that made you ugly cry?

Okay, so here’s the thing. I tear up in books sometimes, but I never really¬†cry. I think the last book I read that I really sobbed in (unless I’m forgetting something) was¬†Tuesdays With Morrie¬†by Mitch Albom, when I read it back in seventh grade. I also cried in¬†Ignite Me¬†by Tahereh Mafi, but that was because I was so happy, not sad lmao.

8. Book that made you laugh?

Literally anything by Rick Riordan.

9. Character you’d like to be for the day?

If I could, I would be Hermione Granger for the rest of my life. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be brilliant, beautiful, and a total badass?

10. A book that was so good you dreamt about it?

I literally don’t think I’ve ever dreamt about a book. But then again, I don’t usually remember my dreams (I’m pretty sure no one does), so….

11. Book you DNFd?

I try not to DNF books anymore, but the most recent one I DNFed was My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows. I’ve heard so many amazing things about this book, and it wasn’t even that bad, but I made the mistake of reading it right after I finished The Hate U Give¬†by Angie Thomas, and literally nothing could compare to that book. I’m planning on picking it up again in the future, though!

12. What book are you most excited to read?

Okay, so I have a ton of anticipated releases. Two of them are¬†Always and Forever, Lara Jean¬†by Jenny Han, and the other is¬†When Dimple Met Rishi¬†by Sandhya Menon, but the book I am most excited for is…..

acowar_us

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas!!! I don’t think anyone will be surprised by this. I mean, is there anyone NOT excited for this book? Four more days!!! I’m planning on starting my reread of ACOMAF today, so when I do, I’m hoping to get up a post about my ACOWAR theories, questions, and fears. My biggest one being: LITERALLY HOW IS SARAH GOING TO TOP ACOMAF?

So that’s it for the¬†get to know YA book tag! I hope through this tag, you guys were able to get to know more about me and what I like to read. I tag all of you to do this, so link me to your posts if you end up doing it! I’ll see you guys next time!
