May Recap!

Hey, everyone, it’s Dana, and today I’m here with you for my May recap! May was an amazing reading and blogging month for me, and I have lots of other things to talk about, too, so without further ado, let’s get started!

There were a lot of exciting things that happened in the month of May, so I had a lot of favorites! There were new TV shows I started and some great new music I discovered, as well one amazing movie that I loved.

Harry’s Album

For those of you who don’t know, I am a MAJOR One Direction fan, since 2012, and Harry has always been my favorite member. These past two months have been so amazing for Harry fans, because we’ve gotten so much, but the best by far was his album. I was a little worried at first, because when Zayn’s album came out last year, it wasn’t really my style of music, and I didn’t like it as much as I wanted to. But that wasn’t the case with Harry’s album at all, because I absolutely love it. My favorite songs are Kiwi, Two Ghosts, Sweet Creature, Carolina, and Only Angel. Also, these aren’t on his album, but I also love his cover of Ultra Lightbeam by Kanye West, and his performances with Stevie Nicks, because Landslide is one of my favorite songs ever.

Freaks and Geeks

I recently started a new show earlier this week, and that is Freaks and Geeks! My friend has been bugging me to start it for ages, but I was hesitant at first, because the only shows set in high schools I’ve ever really liked are 13 Reasons Why and Gilmore Girls (and those aren’t even related to high school issues as much as others). But I was so pleasantly surprised with the show, and I have ended up really loving it! James Franco is beautiful, and I love Lindsay and Sam. I’m probably going to finish the series next month once I’m finished with my exams, so thank God for Netflix. Also, please don’t tell me I’m the only one who thinks Jason Segel is really hot in his role on the show?

Everything, Everything

I went and saw Everything, Everything with my best friend and my sister on the day it came out, and oh my God, it was AMAZING. I read the book back in November, and I really enjoyed it, but I think I might have even liked the movie more. It’s definitely not for everyone, but I am a huge romance fan, and it just gave me so many feels. The two leads had so much chemistry, the soundtrack was amazing, the locations in the movie were gorgeous, and I really loved all of the creative risks the director took with the film. Also, I am in love with Nick Robinson, the actor who plays Olly, and I’m so excited to see him in Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda when that comes out!

Farewell, May

May was a pretty good month overall. It wasn’t as fun as April, since I was traveling then, but it did pass by pretty quickly, and we are getting closer to summer, so that’s exciting. Only thirteen more days!! I want to start doing weekly recaps so I can remember more clearly what’s going on in my life, but honestly, most of May felt the same to me. It was a lot of studying and preparing for my final exams that begin next week, but there were also some fun moments, too. My sister went to prom, and it was a lot of fun to help her get ready and take cute photos with her. We also had a graduation party for her, and the majority of my extended family came, which was a lot of fun.

May was a really great blogging month, and it’s become so much fun for me. I’ve started doing more frequent reviews, and there are also many tags I love to try out, and I’m just so excited for all the posts I have planned for the future.

Ramadan also started on the last Saturday of Ramadan, and although it was really difficult getting back into the swing of things at first, I’m finding it easier to manage now. It’s still hard being at school and fasting, since I’ve never done it before, but it gets more bearable by the day. Plus, school ends earlier now, so I get to go home and have at least two hours of free time before I start doing my work.

I’m really excited for summer to start, because I just have so much going on this vacation. I’m spending the first two weeks here at home, finishing up Ramadan, and I’ll just be hanging out with my cousins, watching TV, and reading. Then, it’s Eid for three days, and then I’m off to Toronto to begin college tours! I’ll talk more about my vacation plans in June’s recap, though.

Read This Month

May was an amazing reading month for me, my best ever actually. I read 13 books this month (one of them being a play for school), and almost all of them were five star reads, which was great. I also ended up reading every single book on my TBR (plus 3 more), which has literally never happened before, so that’s exciting. I’m also 5 books ahead of my Goodreads challenge, having read 46 books so far this month, so I’m hoping to stay ahead in June too! I think I will, though (hopefully), since I’ll have a lot more time to read in the summer. I’ve found that with reading, it’s all about making time. May was a super busy month for me school wise, but I still managed to read the most books I ever have in a month.

On the Blog

June Foresights

June is a really short month of school, with only two weeks left, and both of those being exams weeks, so I am really close to vacation. That being said, I want to really work my hardest and get good grades on my exams so that I can get my grades up in the classes that I really need it. I also want to write and read a lot, since I’ll be on vacation, and I’m hoping to start some new TV shows as well.

Monthly TBR

  1. SCARLET by Marissa Meyer
  2. CRESS by Marissa Meyer
  3. WINTER by Marissa Meyer
  4. TELL ME THREE THINGS by Julie Buxbaum

I’m obviously going to try and read more than 4 books in June, but I don’t really want a TBR next month, since it’s the summer and I’m not sure what I’ll be reading yet. That being said, I really do want to finish the Lunar Chronicles, so hopefully I can achieve that!

Goals for the Month

  • Keep blogging
  • Get good grades on my exams
  • Get my bio and algebra grades up
  • Work on my novel
  • Start doing weekly recaps on my blog
  • Read everyday
  • Make the most of these last months with my sister
  • Be happy! 🙂

How was your month? Let me know in the comments below! I’ll see you guys next time 🙂
