i can’t be the only one thinking it–where has 2017 gone?? i swear it was just january. time has passed by so quickly–2017 has definitely been the speediest year yet. while next month’s recap will be all about 2017 in general, this one is about november, even though i haven’t done a post like this since june! now without further ado, let’s get started.
since school started, i honestly haven’t had much time for anything, which is why this section is so short, but i did start watching breaking bad a couple of weeks ago. this was both a good and a bad decision. it was a good decision because it’s amazing and i’m obsessed with it. but it was a bad decision because now all i ever want to do is watch it! i finished the first 2 seasons so fast, but now i’ve decided that i’m not going to watch anymore until i’m on christmas break. but breaking bad really is amazing, and if you’re like me and somehow still hadn’t managed to watch it, i highly recommend it. the entire show is on netflix and it’s actually a television masterpiece.
(also i would die for jesse pinkman.)
earlier this month, my queen taylor swift saved 2017 with the release of her new album, reputation. i had been waiting for this album with so much excitement ever since she announced the release of it way back in august. i know that not everyone loves taylor, which is why i would appreciate it if any negative comments about her were kept off this post. i wasn’t such a huge fan of the first singles, especially look what you made me do (
i hate it and still do), so i was kind of worried that i wouldn’t enjoy the album. but my expectations weren’t just met, they were exceeded. my favorite songs on the album are don’t blame me, delicate, getaway car, dress, call it what you want, and new year’s day. even if you don’t like taylor swift, i highly recommend checking this album out, because every song is incredible.
i can’t believe november was only 30 days, because it honestly felt like the busiest month ever. how did i manage to do so much in only 30 days??? i traveled to 2 different countries. i participated in 2 MUN conferences. i had what feels like hundreds of tests and a huge paper and presentation that took over my life. it was very fitting that i had a long weekend at the end of it, for martyrs day and national day here in dubai.
things have definitely changed a lot since my last recap post. i’m now in my junior year of high school (grade 11, aka year 12), and it’s stressful to say the least. everyone always says this is the most important year, especially because it’s essentially the last full year of grades colleges will see. i’m taking APs for the first time this year: ap english language, ap psychology, and ap capstone seminar. the latter, ap capstone, is definitely the hardest thing i’ve ever done, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. it’s a very writing and public speaking heavy class, and it stresses me out like no other, but i have really been enjoying it.
i mentioned earlier that i traveled quite a bit this month, which is true. from november 1-6, i traveled to jordan for an MUN conference with my school. jordan was beautiful because we got to go to petra and the culture there is so strong. even though i live in the uae, which is an arab country, pretty much everybody speaks english here. however, in jordan, everyone speaks arabic, and i really got to practice my arabic. it was great to meet so many new people, and i had a fun time.
i also traveled to ireland around a week ago with my school, which was lots of fun. for both of these trips, ireland and jordan, i got to travel with my 2 best friends, which was such an amazing experience. ireland was really beautiful, especially because i haven’t experienced true autumn weather since i moved from boston seven years ago, so i had a great time. plus, it was really cold, which i always enjoy, living in dubai and all. i’ve attached some pictures of the gorgeous views we had in jordan and ireland below 🙂
