it’s hard to believe we’ve already completed 5 months of 2018. it literally feels like new year’s day was just yesterday. it’s crazy to me that i only have 18 days left of junior year–18 days until i’m officially a senior in high school. it’s insane. may has been another busy month in the insanely busy year of 2018, and today i’m going to recap it, something i haven’t done in a while (since november omg). so without further ado, let’s get started 🙂
so, taylor swift’s reputation tour officially started this month! i know i say this with every tour, but i mean it this time: this really is taylor’s best tour yet. the production, the setlist, the songs…..it’s all amazing. she’s literally singing a song from every single album she’s ever put out. in 2018, we get to hear should’ve said no, you belong with me, long live, we are never ever getting back together, and delicate all in one night. it’s INSANE, and i can’t wait to experience it on july 27. i recently upgraded my seats because i saw a good deal on ticketmaster and i couldn’t resist, so i’ll be sitting on the floor. that’s absolutely insane to me, because i’ve only ever seen taylor once, on the 1989 tour, and back then, i literally had the highest seats in the stadium. it was still an incredible show, though, and i have no doubt this one will be, too.
may has been a pretty crazy month in terms of school. i took AP exams for the first time this year: ap psychology, ap capstone seminar, and ap english language. ap psych was the best one for me; i felt really good about it, and hopefully i did well. i felt pretty good about ap capstone while i was writing the exam, but then when i got out, all my classmates were talking about how shit the prompt was, which made me nervous. and for ap lang…..ap lang really upset me. english has always been my strongest subject, and i’ve performed pretty consistently in ap lang this year. i’ve never gotten lower than a 7 on an essay (it’s out of 9), and i have an A- in the class, which is pretty rare. so i was feeling pretty confident going into the exam; i thought if i had to get a 5 on only one, it would be this one. and at first, i was feeling confident; the multiple choice was surprisingly easy, and we got a really good synthesis prompt. but then the rhetorical analysis came and it was SO HARD. i literally had no idea what i was reading, and that threw me off for the next essay. i came out of the exam feeling really disappointed, but hopefully i did well. i’ll find out in july, which is kind of crazy.
in other may news, my sister came home from college, and it’s been really nice having her back. we also got our trips for next year. basically, every year, my school organizes a bunch of different trips, ranging from service, ecology, tourism, etc. there’s a lottery system, and obviously, the closer your number is to #1, the higher your chances are. i clearly have the worst luck when it comes to stuff like this, because i got #603–out of 610. i was really disappointed at first, but i ended up getting my second choice trip with my best friend, so i’ll be traveling to london in november. i can’t wait to share that trip with you guys 🙂
ramadan also started in the last 2 weeks of may. for those who don’t know, ramadan is a muslim holiday where you fast from sunrise to sunset, no food or drink. it’s meant to help us understand what it’s like for those who have no food, and are not as fortunate. at first, it was difficult, especially with school, but i’ve gotten used to it, and it’s not bad anymore. i’m used to ramadan being in the summer (it runs on a lunar calendar, so it changes every year), but this year, it’s during school, so i’m struggling with some motivation issues. i need to remind myself that i’m almost done and i can finish the year strong, but i’m definitely over school. especially since my sister gets to sleep in everyday since she has no school or responsibilities.
oh well. 18 more days!! by the time i write my next recap, i’ll officially be a senior in high school, which is very exciting.
read this month
- THE CRUEL PRINCE by holly black – ★★★★★
(yes i know i only read 1 book in may….i’m going to be honest, 2018 has been a really rough reading year for me. i’ve only read 4 books so far. they’ve all been 5 star reads except for one, which is great, but i have been so busy with school. i’m really hoping that i’ll be able to get back to normal when summer starts.)
watched this month
- THE 1989 WORLD TOUR LIVE – ★★★★★
- TWO NIGHT STAND – ★★★★
- WHAT IF – ★★★★★
- THE FLORIDA PROJECT – ★★★★★
- CALL ME BY YOUR NAME – ★★★★
- friends season 4 – ★★★★★
- i’m watching friends for the first time ever, and season 4 was just hilarious. definitely the best season so far, in my opinion. i started season 5, but i’m still halfway through, since i’ve been busy with school.
- caught up on jane the virgin season 4 – ★★★★★
- jane the virgin continues to be one of the best, most consistent shows on tv right now. season 4, and it still hasn’t dropped in quality. i absolutely loved this season and that finale was incredible. can’t wait for the final season!
- caught up on riverdale season 2 – ★★★
- way better than the first half of season 2, but still ultimately weak. i really hope the writers step it up in season 3, although they’ve definitely dug themselves into a hole.
- 13 reasons why season 2 – ★★★
- really enjoyed this season up until that horrible season finale. really turned me off from 13 reasons why, and in my opinion, they trivialize serious issues for shock value. might make a post about this in the future.

on the blog
these first 2 weeks of june are going to be very busy because my teachers have literally crowded in a million summatives. i only have 1 exam, though, which is good–unfortunately, it’s precalc, which is my least favorite class and my worst grade, so wish me luck on that!
after that, though, i’m flying to new york on june 21st where i officially start my summer. i can’t wait for this summer, we have a lot planned and it’s going to be an amazing time. as usual, i am so grateful to my parents for all the opportunities they give us and everything they do for us; i’m so blessed to even be traveling this summer. i never try to brag, but i know some people here are interested, and also, ultimately, this blog is for me as something to look back on. so in june i will be traveling to washington dc, where i am seeing harry styles live. i am so excited for this, because if you didn’t know, i’m a HUGE harry fan. i bought my tickets over a year ago and my seats are right next to the b-stage, which is crazy. i haven’t seen harry in over 3 years, since i last saw him with one direction on the on the road again tour, and i’m so excited. after dc, i’m flying to toronto, which is where we begin our canada trip, and that’s it for june. i’ll share the rest of my summer plans next month, when i’m writing my july foresights 🙂
like i’ve said a million times this post, i only have 2 weeks left of school until i’m officially a senior. when i’m out of school, i’m going to be writing a reflection on my junior year of high school, and everything i’ve done, so keep an eye out for that coming soon!!
