hi everyone! i can’t believe june is already over, and we’re halfway done with 2018. that’s CRAZY. i know i say this all the time, but this year is really passing by so fast. june has been a great month for the most part, so without further ado, let’s get to the recap!
finishing my novel (!!!)
this is something that i haven’t talked about very much on this blog, but for those of you who don’t know, i’m a writer. i’ve written countless stories in my life, but i’ve been working pretty seriously on my manuscript since march 2016, and i actually finished it in december. i’ve been editing it slowly and surely since then, and i think i’m finally close to the final product. i recently discovered barnes & noble self publishing, and i think that’s what i’m going to go with. it’s honestly very crazy to know that i have a finished book, but i’ve never been more proud of anything i’ve written. maybe i’ll share some excerpts in the future, but hopefully expect to see some more updates on my book soon!
set it up
i’m sure that most people have heard about this movie right now, because it’s been all over the internet, but i watched set it up a couple of weeks ago with my cousin and i fell in LOVE. i am a huge fan of rom coms and this is definitely the best one i’ve ever watched. it was so funny and realistic and romantic, and i’ve already watched it twice. if you haven’t watched this yet, i HIGHLY recommend it, because it’s the feel-good summer movie everyone needs. it’s a netflix original, so it’s available internationally!
sports are something i have never talked about on this blog, mainly because they have never really interested. but i am loving watching the world cup with my family and friends this year! unfortunately, all of the arab countries got out almost immediately (surprise, surprise), but it’s been really fun watching and cheering on other teams. right now, i’d have to say i’m rooting for uruguay. their game against portugal yesterday was AMAZING. my family and i get really into it, and we’re actually watching the spain vs. russia game as i write this. right now, they’re tied 1-1, but my prediction is that spain will win.
june has been quite a busy month for me. i had exams in the first week (well, actually, exam is more accurate, i only had 1), which went pretty well for the most part. then it was eid (a muslim holiday), which was so much fun. i love celebrating with my family, and i got to spend time with my cousin in abu dhabi, which was really fun. after eid, i didn’t go back to school, because there were only a couple of days left, and they were pretty irrelevant. then, on june 21, i flew to new york to begin my summer vacation! we were only in new york for the airport, and then we drove to jersey for the night. the real trip, though, started in DC. DC was so much fun; we went to the natural history museum, walked around georgetown, but most importantly…..I SAW HARRY STYLES!!!!!
i am a HUGE harry styles fan, i have been ever since 2012. i saw one direction live 3 times, but this was my first time seeing harry in over 3 years. i bought my tickets over a year ago, and i was VERY excited. looking forward to this concert is kind of what got me through junior year. i am very pleased to say that it was an incredible show. i was on the floor, and harry was amazing. i was standing by myself, and most people around me didn’t know the words, so they were kind of staring at me, but i didn’t care. i had SO much fun, and i can’t wait to see him one last time in vancouver in 5 days!!!
after DC, we flew to toronto, where i stayed for 3 days. toronto wasn’t really what i expected, but i toured the university of toronto, which was fun, since i’ll be applying there in the fall. we also met up with my uncle and aunts, which was nice, since i haven’t seen them in a long time. after toronto, we drove to niagara falls, and oh my god, it was incredible. i’ve only ever seen the new york side of the falls when i was young, but they’re nothing compared to the canada side. we did a daytime and a nighttime cruise, and it was genuinely the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen. after that, we flew to calgary for a night, where we met up with some more family. then, yesterday morning, we drove to banff national park, which is where i am right now. right now, banff is rivaling niagara falls for the most beautiful scenery i’ve ever witnessed. i’ll attach some pictures so you guys can see.

on the blog
i am really excited for july, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a great month. after banff, we’re driving to vancouver, which marks the end of our canada trip. vancouver is going to be super fun, because i’m seeing harry styles with my best friend, meeting up with some friends, and exploring the city. after vancouver, the most exciting part of our trip happens: we are flying to hawaii!!!! i am so excited because i’ve never been to hawaii before, obviously. we’re going to be in honolulu and maui, and it’s going to be super fun. after hawaii, it’s back to boston for a month and a half, which i’m excited for. it’s going to be great to be back home with my friends. i’m also seeing taylor swift in boston with my best friend, which i’m so excited for, because i am a HUGE fan of her as well.
i’m currently in the process of trying to secure an internship, so that could be keeping me busy during july, which i’m excited for. i’m also going to be working on my book, college applications, and ap summer work. this is my last summer as a high schooler, so i’m looking to make the most of it, but i’m also going to be very busy. either way, i am super excited!!
- my oxford year
- emergency contact
- the wedding date
- finalize my book
- get an internship
- finish a first draft of my college essay
- finish some ap work
- study for the act + subject tests
- HAVE FUN!!!
so that’s it for my june recap! how was your month? did you read any good books? do anything special? i’d love to hear about it in the comments!
until next time,
